EDUCATION
Civil Engineering
Dr Muizzu received his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Civil Engineering from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom.
He has also attained Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
PUBLIC SERVICE
Government Service
His government service began in March 1998 as a Construction and Public Works Planning Technician Trainee at the Ministry of Construction and Public Works.
2012 — 2018
Minister of Housing & Infrastructure
Dr Muizzu served as Minister of Housing and Infrastructure from February 2012 until November 2018.
2021 — 2023
Mayor of Malé City
Dr Muizzu became the first Mayor of Malé City elected through a direct vote of the city's residents.
He served as Mayor from 17 May 2021 until 17 November 2023.
2023 — PRESENT
